Terms of Service
Last updated: June 14, 2026
- You don't pay until you've walked around the finished car with us and you're happy with the services you booked.
- We stand behind our work — but we can't be responsible for damage that was already there, which detailing sometimes reveals.
- Please give us 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule, so we don't lose the slot and the drive out.
- Ceramic coatings carry the System X manufacturer warranty, which requires registration and an annual inspection to stay valid.
This summary is for convenience only — the full terms below are what apply.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and After Hours Car Detailing LLC ("After Hours Car Detailing," "we," "us," or "our"). By booking or receiving a service from us — online, by phone, by text, or in person — you agree to these Terms. Please read them, along with our Privacy Policy. You must be at least 18 and the owner of the vehicle (or authorized to arrange service for it) to book.
2. Booking & scheduling
How appointments work, and our right to keep everyone safe.
We provide mobile automotive detailing and ceramic-coating services at a location you choose (such as your home or office). You can book through our website, by phone, or by text. A booking is confirmed once you receive a confirmation from us.
We may decline or stop a service at our reasonable discretion — for example, if a vehicle's condition poses a safety or health risk, requires work beyond what was booked, or is in an unsafe or inaccessible location.
3. Our Walkaround Guarantee
The promise from our marketing, in writing — and exactly what it covers.
We don't consider the job done until you've seen it. When we finish, we walk around the vehicle with you and inspect the work together. You don't pay until you're satisfied with the services we agreed to perform — we don't hold a deposit hostage on standard details.
What's covered
The specific services listed on your work order, performed to professional detailing standards. If, at the walkaround, something within those agreed services isn't done right, we'll re-perform that work on the spot or arrange to make it right, or we won't charge you for the portion we can't satisfy. If you notice an issue with the agreed services that wasn't visible at handoff, contact us within 48 hours and we'll make it right at no additional charge — including a return visit if that's what it takes. If weather or our seasonal schedule keeps us from coming back right away, we still honor it free and return as soon as conditions safely allow.
What it doesn't cover
Your satisfaction has to be reasonable and tied to the services you actually purchased. For example, if you booked a basic exterior wash but are unhappy that bonded contamination or iron deposits remain in the paint, that's expected — those require add-on services like a clay-bar and chemical decontamination (or, depending on the paint, machine polishing or wet sanding), which weren't part of that job. The guarantee also does not cover:
- Results that are physically impossible given the vehicle's age, paint, or condition;
- Pre-existing conditions and defects we did not cause (see Section 8);
- Issues a clean surface simply revealed — scratches, swirls, water spots, rock chips, or paint defects that dirt had hidden;
- Damage, re-soiling, or contamination that occurs after we leave;
- Anything outside the agreed scope of work.
We are the professionals, and the methods and products used to achieve a result (for example, whether paint needs a clay-bar, a polish, or a wet sand) are our professional judgment. This guarantee — to re-perform or not charge for the agreed services — controls over any conflicting limitation elsewhere in these Terms for our standard detailing services.
4. Pricing, payment & cancellations
Quotes are estimates; you approve any change before we do extra work.
Quotes & price changes
All quotes are estimates based on the vehicle's typical condition and size. The final price may change if the actual condition needs more time, labor, or product than estimated (for example, excessive pet hair, heavy staining, or mold). We will tell you and get your approval before performing any additional work or charging more.
Payment
Payment is due in full at completion, after the walkaround, unless we agree otherwise in writing. We accept cash, check, credit/debit cards, and other methods we offer at the time of service. Card payments include a 4% service fee and are processed securely by our payment provider.
Deposits
Standard detailing requires no deposit — you don't pay until the walkaround. Ceramic coatings and other full-day or appointment-sensitive services require a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the service to reserve your date, disclosed at booking and credited toward your total. A coating deposit transfers once to a new date with at least 48 hours' notice, and is forfeited on a late cancellation, no-show, or lockout — it reserves a full day of our schedule and product prepared specifically for your vehicle.
Cancellations & no-shows
Because a mobile appointment reserves a dedicated time slot and the drive out to you, we ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule — that is always free, as many times as you need.
- Standard details: a cancellation with less than 24 hours' notice, a no-show, or a lockout (we arrive and can't access the vehicle or worksite after waiting about 15 minutes) is subject to a flat $50 fee. We don't hold a card or a deposit on standard details, so we'll simply bill it — and we credit it in full toward your service when you rebook within 30 days.
- If the vehicle's condition is materially different from your photos — for example, far dirtier than the pictures you sent, or a problem area the photos didn't show — we'll point out the difference and re-quote it with you before we start any work. You're always free to decline; only the flat $50 trip fee applies for the drive out, again credited toward a future appointment.
- Ceramic coatings: the same situations forfeit the coating deposit described above.
This fee is an agreed, reasonable estimate of our lost time, travel, and reserved capacity — not a penalty, and never a "deposit held hostage." As a courtesy, we'll typically waive it the first time. Rescheduling for weather (see Section 6) is never a cancellation and carries no fee.
Chargebacks
If you have any concern with a completed service, please contact us first so we can make it right under our Walkaround Guarantee. Initiating a chargeback for services we performed and you approved at the walkaround is improper, and we may contest it using this agreement and your completion approval.
5. Paint correction, polishing & wet sanding — assumption of risk
Some paint work carries risk; we measure first and you decide.
Paint correction, machine polishing, and wet sanding remove a small amount of clear coat to improve the finish. Before performing this work, we typically take a paint-thickness reading and give you our professional recommendation. If we advise that your vehicle does not have enough clear coat (or is otherwise not a good candidate) but you still want the work performed, you do so at your own risk: by approving it — verbally or by signing a written acknowledgment — you accept that risk, and we are not liable for clear-coat failure, burn-through, or other damage that may result from work you requested against our recommendation.
6. Weather & rescheduling
We're mobile and seasonal — weather sometimes moves the date.
Quality detailing — and especially ceramic-coating installation — requires suitable temperature, dryness, and lighting. We may reschedule at no penalty if conditions are unsafe or unsuitable (for example, rain, snow, ice, high wind, or temperatures outside product limits), and we may decline to start or continue work if the worksite is unsafe. We are not responsible for results affected by weather or conditions outside our control.
7. Your responsibilities
A safe spot to work, and a heads-up on anything we should know.
To help us serve you safely and well, you agree to:
- Provide a safe, legal worksite — a driveway or private space with room to work around the vehicle, plus any permits or HOA/property approvals required. Our vehicles are self-contained; we bring our own water and power.
- Disclose known issues before we begin — including loose or damaged trim, leaks or water-entry problems, recent paint/body repair, aftermarket modifications, mechanical or electrical faults, and any area you don't want treated.
- Remove valuables and personal items from the vehicle beforehand. We are not responsible for loss of or damage to personal items left in the vehicle.
- Provide access — keys, fob, or codes needed to perform the service.
8. Pre-existing conditions & limitation of liability
We carry insurance and take great care — but we can't own damage that was already there.
Vehicles accumulate age, wear, and prior damage, and detailing can expose — or in some cases worsen — conditions that already exist. We are not responsible for pre-existing conditions or damage we did not cause, including but not limited to: weak, thin, oxidized, or failing clear coat; faded, chalking, or previously repainted paint; existing scratches, swirls, chips, dents, or rust; cracked, chipped, or stress-fractured glass; brittle, aged, or loose trim, emblems, and moldings; pre-existing stains, tears, or wear; water intrusion through worn or damaged seals; and aftermarket or non-factory parts, films, wraps, or accessories.
Our services are aesthetic and do not include mechanical or structural repair; we are not liable for mechanical or electrical issues that happen to coincide with a detailing service.
To the fullest extent permitted by Michigan law, our total liability for any claim arising out of our services — whether in contract, warranty, or negligence — will not exceed the amount you paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, loss of use, or lost time. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence, willful or wanton misconduct, or anything the law does not allow us to disclaim. We carry insurance appropriate to our work.
9. Ceramic coating warranty
The coating's warranty is from System X — and you keep it valid with an annual inspection.
We install System X® professional ceramic coatings. The coating carries a manufacturer warranty from System X — not a separate guarantee from us — and is governed by System X's published warranty terms, which we provide to you. Coverage and duration depend on the product installed (Max G+ and Max MF: lifetime; Pro+: 6 years; Crystal+: 2 years).
To keep your coating warranty valid, you must:
- Ensure your coating is registered within 30 days of installation;
- Complete a professional annual inspection by an approved applicator within 30 days before or after each anniversary; and
- Maintain the vehicle according to System X care guidelines.
The warranty does not cover, and may be voided by: applying waxes, sealants, or other coatings over it; harsh, abrasive, or automatic brush car washes; improper washing or neglect; and damage such as swirl marks, scratches, water spots, rock chips, failing clear coat, collision, or chemical damage. It is registered to the vehicle owner and is non-transferable. A ceramic coating enhances gloss and makes maintenance easier but is not a guarantee against all damage and does not make your vehicle scratch-proof or chip-proof. Results vary with condition, environment, and maintenance.
10. Photo & video release
We love showing off our work — and you can opt out.
You grant us a royalty-free right to photograph and video your vehicle(including before/after images) and to use those images in our marketing, website, social media, and advertising, without compensation. We will not publish your name, license plate, or location unless you separately agree, and we avoid capturing personal items inside the vehicle. If you'd prefer we not use images of your vehicle, just tell us in writing before or at the time of service and we'll honor it.
11. Text messaging terms
What you're agreeing to when you text with us.
By providing your mobile number and opting in, you agree to receive text messages from After Hours Car Detailing, including appointment confirmations, reminders, and — if you have opted in to marketing — promotional offers.
- Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP (or QUIT, END, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE) at any time to opt out; you may receive one final confirmation message.
- Reply HELP for help, or contact us at (517) 231-9272 / afterhourscardetailing@gmail.com.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Consent to receive marketing texts is not a condition of any purchase.
Your information is handled per our Privacy Policy, and we do not share mobile opt-in data with third parties for marketing.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless After Hours Car Detailing LLC, its owner and team, from third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misrepresentation of vehicle ownership or authority, or conditions of your property or vehicle you failed to disclose — except to the extent caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct.
13. Dispute resolution — arbitration & class-action waiver
Please contact us first; formal disputes go to arbitration, with small-claims as an option.
Let's talk first. Most issues are resolved quickly under our Walkaround Guarantee — please contact us before taking any formal action.
Binding arbitration. If we can't resolve a dispute informally, you and After Hours Car Detailing agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or our services will be resolved by final and binding arbitration on an individual basis, administered by a recognized arbitration provider under its consumer rules, rather than in court — except as noted below. The arbitration will take place in or near Eaton County, Michigan, or by phone/video as the rules allow.
Class-action waiver. You and After Hours Car Detailing agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative action.
Small-claims exception. Either of us may instead bring a qualifying individual claim in small-claims court. Nothing here prevents either party from seeking to stop misuse of intellectual property in court.
14. Other terms
Force majeure
We are not liable for delay or failure to perform due to causes beyond our reasonable control, including weather, natural disasters, supply shortages, illness, equipment failure, or government action. We'll reschedule as soon as reasonably practicable.
Right to refuse service
We may refuse or end service for any lawful reason, including disrespectful or abusive behavior, unsafe conditions, or illegal items in the vehicle.
Intellectual property
Our name, logo, branding, and content are our property and may not be used without our written permission.
Severability & entire agreement
If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect and that provision will be limited to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable. These Terms, together with your work order, our Walkaround Guarantee, and our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to the arbitration section above, any matter that proceeds in court will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Eaton County, Michigan.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be posted here with the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use our services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
