    The whole paint stack is about as thin as a sheet of paper. Correction removes only the top few microns of the clear coat — thinner than a human hair — which is exactly why we measure your paint first.

    Defects sit in your clear coat like tiny hills and valleys. Machine polishing carefully levels the hills — the swirls and scratches — down to the smooth valleys, without digging into your paint. That's why a corrected car looks deeper than new: the surface is genuinely flat again.

    A compound cuts deeper to remove the defect; a polish refines that cut to a high-gloss finish. Real correction uses both — that's the difference between “buffed” and corrected.

    For deep defects, orange peel, or show-car prep, wet sanding levels the clear coat itself. It's specialty work — final quote in person after we measure your paint, because the price depends on the panels involved, defect depth, vehicle size, and paint thickness.

    Correction levels defects inside the clear coat. If a scratch has cut through to the base color or primer — the kind your fingernail drops into — no amount of polishing fills it back in. That's a paint repair, and we'll tell you so instead of buffing at it.
